Math Facts - Math Practice for Kids

‘Math Facts – Math Practice for Kids’ is an edu-entertainment voice app developed by AWzone to instill in kids the zest for learning basic arithmetic operations. Often, children feel intimidated when introduced to numbers at an early age and this if not addressed suitably can affect their foundation in mathematics. The voice app can be proposed as a solution to help kids hone their math skills in a fun and entertaining way. It is a supplementary learning aid that offers unlimited practice questions on the principal mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

When the skill kicks off, it urges the player to plunge into the game right away by seeking to choose any of the 4 numerical operations. Based on the choice, it tosses a set of 5 questions to test the kid’s proficiency in doing calculations using the operation. To promote reinforcement learning, for every correct answer Alexa repeats the complete mathematical statement. Whereas, in case of wrong answers, she assumes the role of a tutor and encourages the child to repeat the equation thrice together with her. On the whole, the skill succeeds in creating a classroom ambiance to bolster the learning process when mastering these fundamental math concepts. Upon completing a set, the skill also updates its users on the number of questions they got right. To make the most out of the game, players can also switch between operations and continue practicing questions from any of the four concepts, all in one session. Another highlight worth mentioning is its accuracy in picking up user responses. This endorses their claim on the Skills Store page that the skill has been refined through rigorous kid testing.

That said, there are a few knockbacks that could let down the user experience at times. The skill does not support the basic repeat command thereby crippling its ability to repeat the questions when asked for. If the user says things like “I don’t know” or if looking for a hint, the skill offers more wait time to answer the same question again. This can thwart the learning as no guidance is given to solve the equation. Another major downfall is that there are no levels of difficulty to choose from making it amiss for intermediate to advanced learners. Mostly, the problems are too easy to solve. The skill also lacks the ability to resume from where left off and extends no provision to track the kid’s progress in the previous sessions.

The VOGO Voice team scores this skill 4 out of 5 stars based on our rating system. ‘Math facts’ can definitely help your kids gain a foothold in basic operations and prep them to solve simple math problems at the beginner level. With some upgrading in the complexity of questions, it can cater to a wider group of learners. So why not try the skill and see if it delivers a resourceful learning experience for kids.
