VOGO voice has fashioned a unique voice app to introduce kids to basic pet care. Virtual Pet for Amazon Alexa largely aims to educate young minds, aged 3 to 6, about pet animals through entertaining tidbits that embody the reactions of the pet in response to the owner’s choice of activity.
The idea of the game revolves around taking care of a single pet. It allows users to adopt one animal from five different types of pets, each possessing unique personalities. These five animals are Dog, Cat, Dragon, Dinosaur, and Unicorn.
The core game mechanic entails, feeding and playing with the pet on a regular basis. The owner’s interactions with the pet bring about noticeable changes in the pet’s mood. These are conveyed through coherent descriptions and characteristic sounds unique to the animal they choose to foster. An optimal routine is feeding and playing with the pet three times a day. The skill ensures to acknowledge a good pet care routine and signals negative emotions on behalf of the pet if the users go overboard or slack off with their responsibilities.
Both tasks, feeding, and playing can be carried out with simple verbal commands. The binary nature of tasks ensures a pet-care routine that is easy for kids to navigate.
The game leans towards an educative model of pet-care rather than a challenging one with short-term rewards. The fun and learning however aren’t mutually exclusive. Each narrative is crafted to both entertain and educate. In doing that the game even allows the player to understand the consequences of a momentary lapse in responsibility. If a user fails to tend to his pet for three consecutive days, the pet runs off in search of food. The skill then intuitively guides the pet owner to find their missing pet.
In a more general sense, the skill aims to reform a child’s perception about pet animals from looking at them simply as means of joy to a mature and well-informed one where they understand the responsibilities they bring along.
