Skill Review: Magoosh Vocabulary Builder

‘Magoosh Vocabulary Builder’ is an English vocabulary builder skill developed by Magoosh that helps students for the preparation of GRE, GMAT, SAT, and ACT exams. The skill is a verbal adaptation of Magoosh’s vocabulary builder flashcard game. This vocab app is aimed at students who are interested in improving scores on the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) that is used for entry to graduate schools. In the first round, users are expected to answer 5 vocabulary questions. It’s a single user game where Alexa picks a random question from its list of vocabulary to find the synonym of a specific word.
The learning process in this game is quite simple. The user is given a word with 3 answer choices. The player has to select the right synonym to continue playing. Every correct answer is worth one point. If the user doesn’t answer or in case of a wrong answer, Alexa gives the correct answer and moves onto the next question. Every new user gets to start the game at an apprentice level. Depending on the progress in the score, new challenging levels are unlocked namely Advanced, Prodigy, and Master with more words and advanced vocabulary. The user’s language proficiency is put to test with the help of these challenges to achieve the status of vocabulary master. The only downside added to the list is for Echo Show users as no display friendly features are employed, and most often the answer choices can be seen only when scrolling the screen up due to immense font size.
