Verdict

Master Swords is a unique gameplay developed by Touch press to entertain and educate young ones and grown-ups alike. The skill opens with a fantasy theme and setting to welcome the user. The plot is centered on retrieving the Uncle’s Master Swords by searching the four kingdoms. To set off in this mission the player has to defeat each enemy by spelling words correctly. A standout feature of this gaming skill is that it aims to improve knowledge of vocabulary words through different levels of spelling challenges. Master Swords has therefore made it to the list of literacy-related skills for Alexa.

Words are the weapons in this voice skill to battle against the horde of fantastical creatures, a few of which are grubby gramlins, hideous orcs, wicked-tongued witches, and brain-hungry zombies. The skill offers three levels of difficulty, namely easy, tricky and masterful to expand the user’s vocabulary and spelling skills. “Easy” words are the easiest to spell while “Tricky” is a bit harder and “Masterful” seems most suited for expert spellers. After choosing the desired level, the player has to fight against the junkyard dweller grubby gramlin. A sword is retrieved each time the player wins the spelling battle. The user can use commands such as “backpack” to know of the items in the backpack and say “status update” to learn of the gaming status. The flexibility to change the level of difficulty comes as a boon to the user. The great voice-over narration, the enlivening sound effects, and impressive display images in unison add to the immersive experience the skill has to offer. Last but not the least, the option to resume from where one left off is yet another positive. Well, that being said, there seem to be a few downsides that could let down the user at times. The skill offers both a trial and a full version. In the trial Master Swords skill, the user is restricted to the junkyard, but upon purchasing the skill the user gets to explore more battlefields and compete with a pile of hilarious enemies. Brand new characters and spelling challenges are added regularly but only in the paid version. Another downer is that the skill at times deems the answer wrong even when the user has spelled it correctly.

The VOGO Voice team scores this skill 4.8 out of 5 stars based on our rating system. Yet, you’ll have to try for yourself and see if it is truly an interactive gaming voice skill that will entertain and educate you all at the same time. So, if you feel like taking a plunge into an unreal world of gameplay and spelling battles, then try out the skill and see if it offers the enriching experience you had anticipated.
