VOGO Voice RATING 4.6/5
Finish the Phrase developed by Alexa Architects is a fun yet educative game to familiarize yourself with the popular sayings in English, thereby prepping you to converse like a native speaker. The skill covers a variety of expressions like idioms, slogans, epithets, puns, proverbs, axioms, and much more; a package that will help users progress from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels in communication. Adeptly guiding learners through 5 questions per day, the skill manages to motivate literature enthusiasts as well to brush up their knowledge of using adages.
The gameplay ensures a consistent learning practice with its format of rolling out 5 questions daily. Users can respond with just the blank part of the saying or by giving its full version, a feature that notches up the skill performance. With every correct answer, you can earn points between 10 and 40, whereas wrong answers will slash a 5 from the score bank. To bypass this users can skip questions for which Alexa provides the right answer with no score cut down. Upon exhausting the daily question limit, players are only allowed to replay the same set of questions if choosing to revisit the skill that day. To pep their spirits, the skill updates their progress in the previous session and motivates them to revise and score better. Also, when completing the set of 5 questions the skill relays how many correct answers the user has given along with the total score. Amping up the utility, users can leave the quiz in between and catch up on the question from where left off in the subsequent session. The leaderboard feature is an addon to its gamification for learners to understand their proficiency in adages when compared to other users of the skill. The developers have managed to pique the users’ interest by prodding them to play 3 days in a row to unlock premium questions that include harry potter quotes, superhero quotes, etc.
Well, that being said there are some minor setbacks that can be worked on to elevate the user experience. The first of it is the limited number of questions per day that may curb the learning and cause boredom. For Echo-show users, the visual experience might be slightly non-engaging as the screen goes blank in the welcome part and the questions displayed are in a font far too small in size.
The VOGO Voice team scores this skill a 4.6 out of 5-stars based on our review criteria. ‘Finish the Phrase’ turns out to be a sure entertainer in efficiently guiding language learners to imbibe commonly used phrases and sayings in English. Yet you need to try it out and see if it upskills you to express your opinions and ideas more fluently like a native speaker.
